Robbie asked me to post this announcement on this site:
I have a new career!
As of this afternoon (Sep 30, 2011 - ed.), I signed papers to work for WTAQ and WNFL in Green Bay as a marketing consultant. I will be helping business choose the right advertising message and schedule to promote and enhance their business. I will be based in Appleton. My time on unemployment is now over. YAY!
For those who don't know, WNFL is a sports/news/talk station. WNFL
WTAQ is a news/talk powerhouse that has been on AM 1360 for many years. WTAQ
Although they have been a Green Bay AM station for a long time (formerly WGEE), they added an FM signal in February of 2010 at 97.5 which is crystal clear in the Fox Cities. They have done very little to promote the FM signal to date, but after my in depth conversations with Duke Wright (the owner of Midwest) as well as the WTAQ sales manager for the station, I think that may change soon and you will hear more about 97.5FM in Appleton.
WTAQ has a great morning show (Mike Matt and the Morning News) as well as the Jerry Bader show from 8:30 until 11AM. Jerry is actually simulcast on a few other Midwest Communication stations from 9 until 11 AM every day. After Jerry is Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage and Mark Levin and Coast to Coast to round out the day. They also carry the Brewers evening and weekend games as well as all of the games of your Green Bay Packers. I listened to Jerry Bader and a few other shows daily when I worked at WHBY.
Although some may not like all the shows that they carry, tens of thousands of people in NE Wisconsin listen to this station EVERY HOUR. The impact for businesses that advertise with them is amazingly huge. I am really looking forward to working with the people I have met so far and helping businesses achieve success with their marketing dollars.
Thank you for your support over the past several months of unemployment and for listening to me while I was on the air. My time as a dedicated talk show host is over, but there is a possibility of some fill in shifts for Jerry Bader's show in the future. Additionally, because of the success of the 'live ads' that I did on The Goin' Home Show, they are interested in exploring a similar type of endorsement ad on WTAQ as well. More on that in the future.
Thanks again for letting me be part of your life and for your concern after I was let go from WHBY Things happen for a reason. My new door has opened and I am stepping through it. (And if you are a business owner or decision maker in the Green Bay/Appleton/Oshkosh area, I would love to talk to you.)
Best wishes!
Robbie Johnson
Best wishes also from me to Robbie Johnson in his new career, and many thanks for his contributions to and support of the community and for the entertainment, information, and intellectual stimulation during his time at WHBY.
Thank you, Robbie!!
